Architectural Design Reviewer

General Summary:
The Architectural Design Reviewer is responsible for reviewing third-party real estate project design submissions for compliance against KSA regional directives & guidelines, uploading the review comments onto the Design Studios web portal for the Design Studio’s Technical Delivery PM’s review & compliance certificate disposition, and, reviewing its comments with the third-party submitter (and Client, as required) to foster understanding and render compliance advice. The Architectural Design Reviewer is also responsible for contributing to the Design Studio’s Lean Process and Continuous Quality Improvement programs which aims to incorporate lessons for improvement learned from the review process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Focus is submittal review and the compliance certification process, design review checklists, reports, and QA/QC in the context of evaluating the design and aesthetics of individual buildings or structures within a development project assessing proposed designs based on criteria such as visual appeal, compatibility with the surrounding context, and adherence to architectural guidelines. Review includes compliance with regional architectural heritage, historic districts and conservation areas and includes elements like building materials, facade design, rooflines, fenestration (windows and doors), landscaping, and overall architectural character.
· Assist the development of execution requirements by means of constructive feedback.
· Coordinate the Architectural Design Reviewer work with other team members.
· Prepare review reports.
· Communicate work status.
Typical Work Activities:
· Transact receipt, processing, and finalization of third-party real estate project compliance review applications.
· Review submissions in accordance with the Design Studio compliance verification Manuals, Methodologies and Tools.
· Collaborate in the preparation and on-going refinement of the Design Studio Operational Manual.
· Coordinate with Stakeholders from the Development Authorities, Amanah, Municipalities, Development Authorities Support Center (DASC) and Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing (MoMRAH)
· Coordinate with client and stakeholders to provide advice and support when needed. Guide project owners on the requirements, tools, and designs necessary to align their projects with the required design guidelines.
· Provide design review services to ensure submissions compliance with design directives of public realm and urban identities.
· Provide technical reports on each reviewed request and share them with all relevant entities.
· Make recommendations as regards acceptance or denial of design directives & architectural identities compliance certificates.
· Maintain submission review files (active & archive) on the Design Studio’s digital information & processing platform.
· Submit reports on the status of the work as well as evaluation of review procedures.
· Support the line managers in developing the methodology, training programs, and tests to grant certificates to local architects, planners, and designers, enabling them to be accredited by the studio.
· Support, as required, various workshops, training courses, and qualification programs for the staff of municipalities, municipal authorities, and the Regional Development Authority.
· Propose improvements for the shortcomings in the processes of issuing compliance certificates and municipal licenses to ensure the optimal implementation of architectural identities.
· Conduct periodic inspection visits to several projects (as a selected sample) to verify the implementation of projects according to the issued compliance certificate.
Minimum Skills and Characteristics:
· The presence of previous academic research or studies related to architectural identity (preferably related to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or neighboring countries) or practical experience in preparing architectural requirements or codes, or design projects based on requirements or codes related to architectural identity (preferably related to Saudi Arabia or its neighboring countries).
· Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and similar design documents and review software.
· Proficient in all typical Microsoft Office Applications, MS Project, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat.
· Proficient in managing & engaging via MS Teams.
· Knowledgeable in document management systems and procedures.
· Fluent in Arabic both oral and written.
· English language proficiency, both oral and written.
· Clear, concise & confident communicator: oral, written and reports preparation.
· Excellent Client-facing skills.
· Ability to deliver high quality results on time/on budget in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated track record of balanced self-initiator and collaborator skills.
· Demonstrated track record of ownership & accountability for works performed.
