Key Responsibilities :

• Drive the Design Studio’s successful establishment, operations and hand-over using proactive management, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Focus is on designing, operating, and delivering the Design Studio’s digital information-processing website.

Minimum Skills, experience and Characteristics :

Bachelor of Computer Science / Minimum 5 Years post-graduate

• Demonstrated understanding and experience in the development and management of websites including logic and processes including previous experience as a web programmer or developer successfully delivering websites of a similar nature.
• Expert with various programming languages such as PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, etc.
• Expert working with HTML and CSS.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming and web application development.
• Detailed oriented in design, coding, and execution.
• Project management proficient.
• Proficient in all typical Microsoft Office Applications, MS Project, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat.
• Proficient in managing & engaging via MS Teams.
• Fluent in Arabic both oral and written.
• English language proficiency, both oral and written
• Clear, concise & confident communicator: oral, written and reports preparation.
• Excellent Client-facing skills.
• Ability to deliver high quality results on time/on budget in a fast-paced environment.

Typical Work Activities :

• Coordinating with the Design Studio’s Digital Delivery PM, Technical Delivery PM, BIM-GIS Manager and Sr. Document Controller to aggregate all Design Studio digital systems into an easy-to-use website that respects differing access-controlled users: the Design Studio staff, the Client’s staff, other Jurisdiction agencies, third-party design consultants, developers, and project owners.
• Coordinating with Stakeholders from the Development Authorities, Amanah, Municipalities, Development Authorities Support Center (DASC) and Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing (MoMRAH) to capture, understand and logically consolidate website requirements.
• Ensuring seamless integration of data from various sources.
• Defining all system requirements and proposing the corresponding hardware, software (custom and off-the-shelf), and any additional resources (consultants, vendors, suppliers, etc.) to develop, operate and handover a turnkey complete and functioning website that integrates all systems.
• Designing & creating website servers.
• Writing lean, testable programming codes.
• Developing digital, including high caliber graphic, content.
• Designing user interfaces and web page layouts and functionality.
• Leading website coordination meetings to discuss development, integration, and review issues and progress.
• Preparing and developing the Work Plan, Manuals, Methodologies, Tools and Reports for Implementation of the Design Studio’s website.
• Designing Website Solutions including Design Studio awareness campaigns, interactive third-party workshops, and online training.
• Collaboratively identifying the associated Design Studio Tasks for Website Execution and Work Finalization including Procedures Methodologies.
• Online Interactive Website Demo with Client and De-Bug Afterward.
• Upgrading, rectifying, and augmenting off-the-shelf software to integrate and optimize the functionality and user experience into the website.
• Creating training materials and conducting training sessions specific to the Website.

About the Design Studios Commission:

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision is an ambitious quality-of-life program dedicated to the improvement of the urban fabric, elevating the built environment, fostering a booming economy, and developing vital communities. Key goals are to recover the architectural and urban identity of all the Kingdom’s regions, genuinely enhance the urban character & pattern, and facilitate comprehensive urban transformation of cities into architecturally and urbanely advanced communities.

One of the most important tools to realize this urban transformation is the Kingdom’s urban identity projects initiative which focuses on defining the Kingdom’s architectural and urban identities by dividing the Kingdom into nineteen realms - each with unique regional & urban identities. This division has led to nineteen design directives for all the KSA regions. These directives provide architectural and urban guidelines to restore and provide architectural and urban identity in a manner that motivates consultancy offices, developers, and citizens to realize the urban identity initiative objectives and, in turn, deliver remarkable benefits to the built environment and urban fabric of the Kingdom’s cities.

The guidelines are prefaced by the general description of architectural and urban patterns of each region. These are based on historical studies that highlight major genuine architectural and urban landmarks. The guidelines address architectural design, urban formation and public realm spaces, the organization of architectural elements on building facades and align with directives to foster consistency of these elements together. The guidelines and directives include but are not limited to the design and forms of different elements, materiality & preferred colors, and other components that identify the character and pattern of buildings to ensure consistency with the urban pattern requirements for each region.

To advance each region’s development projects consistent with its urban and architectural identity objectives, qualified Design Studios are required to be established. The objective of each Design Studio is to provide consultancy services and directives for new development projects in support of implementing urban & architectural guidelines, detailed codes, design directives and processes.
